ASUU Strike: FG, ASUU In Closed-Door Meeting.

Date:

Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, is meeting with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in Abuja.

The meeting, which began around 5 p.m. on Monday, may have boosted university students’ hopes of returning to class.

It’s also part of a last-minute move by the federal government to put a halt to ASUU’s periodic strike.

The union’s latest strike began on February 14 and was extended for another two months.

Despite pleas, ASUU has vowed to keep the strike going until the government agrees to requests for revitalization money and inconsistencies with the Integrated Personnel Payment and Payroll System IPPIS.
