Chelsea’s Kovacic admits the Real Madrid star will be ‘difficult’ to stop in the second leg.

Date:

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic said he is looking forward to playing Luka Modrić in the Champions League quarter-final second leg on Tuesday.

Carlo’s men won the midfield battle as they found a plan that successfully occupied Chelsea’s left side using Federico Valverde. Even N’Golo Kanye was subbed at half-time due to poor performance, which is very unusual.

The midfield trio, Modric, Casemiro, and Toni Kroos, were instrumental in their victory. Modric maximized his free role and had a well-deserved assist to his name. If Chelsea is to overturn the 3-1 deficit, they would need a plan to stop the Croatian. But according to Kovacic, it is easier said than done.

‘It is quite different from answering,’ the Chelsea midfielder said in Monday’s press conference on how to nullify his fellow Croatian teammate.

‘It is difficult to stop him because he is an amazing player

“He was always as good as he is now. As I’ve known him for the last five, six, seven years, he’s on the same level, which is amazing”.
