Former Cronulla NRL flyer Nathan Stapleton has been hospitalized with a severe spinal injury after fracturing his neck while playing rugby union. Stapleton was hurt in a tackle during the second half of his Boorowa club’s opening game of the season against West Wyalong.
The match was immediately neglected while a nurse treated the 32-year-old on the ground. He was taken to the spinal unit at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. A welfare officer at his former club Cronulla also checked his and his young family’s well-being.
