Easter is among us once more, with only a few days to go!!!!
Christians will have a holiday to spend with their families, thanks to a decision by the federal government.
In honor of Easter celebrations, the Federal Government has declared Friday and Monday official holidays.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, announced the holiday on Tuesday.
Aregbesola exhorted Christians to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience, which were the attributes and practices of Jesus Christ, as exemplified by his ministry on earth, according to Dr Shuaib Belgore, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
Aregbesola also urged Christians and all Nigerians to utilize this year’s Easter celebration as an opportunity to pray for an end to the security concerns plaguing the country.
The Minister emphasized that the Federal Government will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to put an end to recent attacks by undesirable elements on highways, airports, and railways.
“Security is everybody’s business. I therefore urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness at this critical time in the history of our country, by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry,” Belgore said.
To sum it up, Easter should be about more than simply the holiday and celebration for you, but also a sober reflection on ourselves in order to be a better replica of Christ..
