Four Belfast Giants players have received a call-up to the Great Britain squad for next month’s World Championships in Tampere, Finland.
Netminder Jackson Whistle and forwards Scott Conway, Lewis Hook, and Ben Lake have all been included in head coach Pete Russell’s 25-man panel for the group stages, which begin on May 13.
GB begin their campaign against Czechia a day later and will also face Austria, hosts Finland, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, and the USA in Group B, with the top four advancing to the quarter-finals and the bottom side being relegated to Division 1A.
There are first call-ups for Cardiff Devils forward Josh Waller and 20-year-old Cade Neilson, the son of assistant coach Corey, who plays for Aberdeen Wings in the NAHL. GB will convene on May 3 and play four warm-up exhibition games, two against Denmark and Italy.
