It’s depressing to wake up each day to hear about another death, another attack in Jos.
In the Yankwaba region of Plateau State’s Jos North council, a university lecturer and an artisan were killed.
Sani Muhammad Mazadu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Gashua in Yobe State’s Department of Psychology, and Safiyanu Sa’id, a tailor, were slain in a confrontation between rival factions known as Sara Suka on Monday.
Jamilu Abdullahi Mazadu, a relative of the lecturer, verified the occurrence yesterday in Jos, the state capital.
The crime had been reported to the Anguwan Rogo Police Divisional Headquarters, according to him.
Mazadu said, “The deceased was about to complete his PhD studies before he was killed. The death of Sani has shocked every one of us but we believe that Almighty Allah has permitted that he would no longer be with us.
“He and the other victim were buried this (yesterday) morning. We pray Allah forgives them. He was a very jovial and friendly person.”
We are saddened by the news and hope for a better Nigeria.
