Father Andrew, the Rector of St Peter’s Walworth in England, became an online phenomenon after a video of him dancing in church went viral.
The social media savvy reverend father, who has over 4k TikTok followers, published the video on the platform like he usually does, but the music he danced to elicited conflicting opinions.
Father Andrew, dressed in a black cassock, shook his waist like a girl to Nigerian musician Flavour’s song Nwa Baby. In many scenes, he was seen beautifully performing dances to the music.
‘Never listen to an African song while working,’ reads a caption on the video. Some internet users who were familiar with the song’s lyrics pardoned the father of any blame, claiming that he most likely didn’t understand what it meant.
I will end with this “singing songs in another language you don’t understand can be tricky sometimes and addictive “maybe”.
