Promising flanker Hayden Michaels has signed with the Southland Stags for the next two National Provincial Championship seasons.
The 20-year-old Gore High School product progressed through the Southland age-group levels and, in 2021, got a taste of the Stags setup.
This year is also part of the Highlander’s Under-20 team.
“It means everything to me,” Michaels said about singing with the Stags for two seasons. Michaels highlights his Stags debut in 2021 as a special moment.
Stags assistant coach David Hall expected 2022 to be a big season for Michaels through the club season where he captains Blues.
“We are excited that Hayden has committed with the Stags for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He is a player we crossed paths with from a young age and has made every post a winner. Hayden has an appetite for hard work and leaves no stone unturned in his goal to become a professional rugby player,” Hall said.
“We look forward to seeing Hayden grow as a young man and a rugby player for the Stags over the next two seasons.”
