The scenario was no different in City’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Brighton last night at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City knew heading into the match that only a win would help them reclaim the top spot from Liverpool, who had gone first the night before and hammered Manchester United 4-0.
Proceedings at the Etihad did not start well as City was unable to find a breakthrough in the first half, heading into the tunnel goalless after referee Mike Dean’s halftime whistle. Yet this all changed in the second half.
