The UNC women’s basketball program has secured a significant commitment from one of the best players in the Class of 2023.
Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program have also secured a commitment from a big-time high school prospect.
The latest comes in Ciera Toomey, a five-star prospect from Pennsylvania who has a No. 3 ranking overall by the HoopGurlz Recruit. North Carolina beat out seven other programs, including UCONN, to earn a commission from one of the best talents from the Class of 2023. Toomey is coming off a season where she will be awarded the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Player of the Year Award. As a junior, the 6-3 stretch-five led Dunmore High School to a 25-2 overall record, as she averaged 18.5 points per game while shooting an outstanding 67.2 percent from the floor.
Not only is this a significant commitment from the program, but it could potentially spell good things on the recruiting trail. Banghart and her staff have shown that they can attract top quality, and the North Carolina women’s basketball program is becoming an excellent place to land the country’s top players.
It is a good time for the UNC women’s basketball program. The team is playing professionally, while the future is promising with all the quality that Banghart has been able to lure.
