UEFA Decision On A Date ‘set for’ Scotland vs. Ukraine Final.

UEFA is set to decide on the crucial play-off match this week.

In March, Steve Clarke’s side was supposed to have their match against Ukraine. But due to Russia’s invasion of the country, the match was understandably postponed.

Daily Mail reports that they will reschedule a new date and announce it in a few days. They also report that Ian Maxwell, the SFA chief executive, will travel to Switzerland to conclude with the governing body of UEFA.

It is said that the only days the fixtures could be rescheduled are either May 31 or June 1. Andy Robertson, the Scotland captain, might be involved in a Champions League final with Liverpool days before this.

The English Championship play-offs are also fixed on the weekend before these possible days.

This would also affect Scotland players from Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie and Nottingham Forest’s Scott McKenna.

The winners of the play-off semi will then face Wales in Cardiff on Sunday, June 5, for a spot in the World Cup.

With Scotland also in Nations League action that month, the Scots will play as many as six games in June.

And with Ukraine in the same Nations League group, UEFA is reportedly considering effectively doubling up both the play-off fixture and the Nations League tie between the two countries.

It is thought that the SFA is very much against that idea, though.

The Nations League clash with Ukraine was initially slated for June 7, three days after the opening fixture against Armenia at Hampden.

The other games planned for June are against the Republic of Ireland on (June 11) and a way to Armenia (on June 14).
