I believe that this is something that all churches may explore and adopt.
Most Rev. Paulinus C. Ezeokafor, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, has appealed for the removal of women above the age of 80 from church charges.
The Bishop made the announcement while delivering his homily at the Catholic Cathedral in Awka, Anambra State, during the 2022 Chrism Mass/Cathedraticum.
Only voluntary gifts from such people, according to the Bishop, should be accepted.
He said: “Any woman above 80 years should be exempted from all forms of levy except voluntary donations in the church.”
Bishop Ezeokafor is well-known for his support for the elderly and those who are less fortunate in society.
This is a positive move for the church.
