As his future at West Ham is uncertain, Yaya Toure has urged Declan Rice to get into a club participating in the Champions League tournament.
Rice has performed impressively for the Hammers over the past two seasons, helping them reach the Europa League’s quarter-finals. His performances have made him admired by several of West Ham’s rivals in the Premier League, earning him status as one of the best midfielders in the top flight.
Time and again, David Moyes has consistently rejected the suggestion that West Ham would sanction an exit for his captain. The Scot has even slapped a £150million price tag on Rice’s head amid increased attention from Manchester United and Chelsea FC.
But Toure, three times winner of the Premier League with Manchester City, has a feeling that Rice needs to improve. And that improvement can be possible if he is in a team fighting for the Champions League.
Toure’s transfer advice comes within days of Jack Wilshere branding Rice as the best defensive midfielder globally. Toure did not repeat that claim outright but did reveal his admiration for the England international.
“Declan Rice is doing a fantastic season. Let’s be honest about it because I like him; I respect him as a player. I’ve been seeing him growing since Pellegrini was the head coach of West Ham,” Toure told StadiumAstro.
